What your car costs, month by month
Car Care: Maintenance Tracker is a free iPhone app that keeps a running total of your car expenses, built from the fill-ups and services you already log. See the total per month or per year, the average, and what the car has cost overall. A 12-month chart splits the costs by maintenance category and fuel.
Your car's costs per month, per year and overall
Pick any month or year to see its total, with the average per month or per year beside it. The all-time total covers everything you have logged for the car.
A year with new tires and a timing belt sits beside the year before in the yearly view, so you can see what the two big jobs added.
Twelve months of costs, split by category and fuel
On the 12-month chart, a March with a brake job stands out, and that month shows how much went on brakes, how much on fuel and how much on the rest.
Maintenance, fuel or both
See all the costs together, or maintenance and fuel on their own. Recent services and recent fill-ups are listed with their prices, so you can tell which visit or which fill-ups made a month expensive.

Questions and answers
How do I keep track of my car expenses?
Log each fill-up, service and renewal with its price in Car Care: Maintenance Tracker on your iPhone, and it adds up what the car costs to run per month, per year and overall. A 12-month chart splits the costs by maintenance category and fuel, and a scanned receipt fills in each job with its price for you.
Do insurance and registration count toward my car's costs?
Yes. Log an insurance, registration or inspection renewal with its price, and it is added to the car's costs for that month, beside its fill-ups and service jobs. The same record starts the reminder for the next renewal.
Do labor and shop fees count toward my car's costs?
Yes. Add labor or a shop fee to a service as a separate cost line, and it counts toward the car's costs in a category of its own.
Can I see what my car cost in past years?
Yes. The yearly view shows each year you have records for, with its total. Past services you add count in the month and year they happened, so a paper service book moved into Car Care fills in the earlier years too.
Does each car get its own cost totals?
Yes. Each car's totals, 12-month chart and categories come only from that car's records. You can add every car you own, with no limit on how many.
